Hi there, I’m using Member Types Pro plugin by Buddydev, and want to search for member types.

The field type is Single Member Type

In Search I use User Taxonomies Member Type to add the member type search option.

But is does not work correctly, Member Type “Men” does not return any results.

Is Members Types Pro not supported in BP Search?

    Regards
    Carsten

    Hi Carsten,

The ‘Member type’ user taxonomy should work correctly with ‘Members Types Pro’.

Have you tried selecting ‘Order by: Alphabetical’ in your Members directory?

Hi Andrea, it’s not really working no matter what. Instead I’m trying using BuddyPress XProfile Member Type field with BP Profile Search to add members types to search. https://buddydev.com/bp-xprofile-member-type-field-is-now-compatible-with-bp-profile-search-plugin/

But it’s not working as it should.

When users sign up to my site, they fill out which gender they are searching for using Single Member Type field.

In the search field, there are two options to choose, the Single Member Type field i just created, and a Taxonomies Member Type field

In both cases only the gender you added when signing up are returned.

Which of the fields should I use in search, Single Member Type or Taxonomies Member Type, to make it work?

Any idea, why it dosn’t work in either cases?

    Carsten

    Hi Carsten,

The search should work in both cases, because ‘BuddyPress Xprofile Member Type Field’ keeps the taxonomy and the profile field in sync.

I would offer to take a look at your test site, but that’s against this forum policy. If you are interested, you can use my BP Profile Search support forum instead:

For other interested readers, the problem disappeared after deactivating and reactivating all plugins on the site, and renaming bp-custom.php. It was probably caused by some redundant code in bp-custom.php itself.

Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing this to all, the deactivating and reactivating all plugins helped.

But I think the issue was coursed by using multiple member type fields, as I did, and the fields were overwriting each other. Of course BP Search could not determine which member type field to use.

    Regards
    Carsten
