Is it safe to update GUID?

    I have recently moved a staging site to live site and replaced all the old links to the new links but I haven’t updated the URLs in GUID values. I read somewhere in WordPress documentation recommending not to ever make changes to guid values. So just wondering if updating URLs in guid is safe?

    Hi,

    It should be OK as long as you have a backup and the site has never been live before. I think the note about replacing GUID’s is mostly important when changing domains that have already been live.

    But if replacing from a dev site it shouldn’t affect anything. Hope that helps!
