• Many apologies if I’m on the “wrong part” of WP-support here, I want my own site (on my own rented space etc like I used to have) but for right now am just needing to get content out before ‘finalizing’ anything so want mysite.wordpress.com, but in registering for it right now it’s blocking gmail addresses!

I have a hard time believing it’s a genuine incompatibility but it’s all I can surmise… seems to have happened a while ago but surely was fixed otherwise I imagine I’d have found mountains of queries on why you can’t use gmail.com for sign-up!

Thanks a ton for any advice on this, and for reco’s on non-gmail accounts (yahoo.com is only other that even pops to mind but w/ gmail being a no-go I’d sooner know what IS ok before just signing-up for providers, finding WP doesn’t jive w/ them and having to pick&choose that way!)

  • Hello,

WordPress.com and www.remarpro.com are actually entirely different entities. Bluehost has a good article on the differences between the two if you’re interested. Your best bet is to reach out to the wordpress.com support:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/

It can certainly be confusing. Doing a couple quick searches I didn’t find anything that suggested gmail accounts are “blacklisted” from registering a website so reaching out to their support and getting clarification will likely be your best bet. Apologies and good luck!

Like Howdy mentioned above, you can reach out to WordPress.com support using his link above and yes, Gmail works great with WordPress website accounts.

As you have a WordPress.COM ask, please ask your support question in the correct forums.

These forums are for supporting self-hosted WordPress software installations. That’s not the sort of blog that you have.
