I have created a child theme, I have copied the functions.php file into my child along with footer.php and styles.css. I have tweaked my functions so I now have 3 extra widget areas in the footer section. I would really like to have the 3 footer widgets at the bottom in white (font and lines etc.) But I want to have a background strip across behind the widgets same color as the background-color in the menu bar. #434343.

I don’t know what to do. If I put background colors on the widgets it will be different sizes. I have tried add color to the #footer but that did nothing. Any suggestions would be great. Web address is

you need to highlight some text to add a link, or simply paste the site url.

there is no css id #footer in your site.

try working with a browser inspection tool such as Firebug to find out what is happening in your site.

have you tried to add a bckground to #footerwidgets?

if this does not work, check the web for ‘clearing floats’.

or inquire at a css forum https://csscreator.com/forum

I tried a few different things but eventually I just added a block of color to the footer. It’s looking ok now, I think I just need to mess with the padding and the figure out how to make the link code white or grey! Thanks again you can see my progress from the link above
