• Is it possible to use .htaccess to password protect a single WordPress page? I have been successful using .htaccess to password-protected a page of my site that is not managed by WordPress. But there is another page on my website that is managed by WordPress that I want to password protected.

I want to password protect a category page. Each post in this category will contain a document to download. I was hoping to use .htaccess to password protect this page since I am using it in another area of my website. I would like to try to keep things consistent.
I have been researching if this is possible and it looks like it might be. But nobody has posted how they did it. Or at least that I’ve been able to find.

I am still trying to figure out if it is possible to password protect a category page. Does anyone know if it’s possible?

And if so I would preferably like to use .htaccess. So if you can password-protected category page can also use .htaccess?

At the very least can someone let me know if it’s possible to password protect a category page. I have been looking for an answer for several days now and I can’t seem to find an answer. I tend to think it’s not possible.

It’s not possible to protect a category page without a restriction plugin.

I am fairly new to all of this. A restriction plugin? any recommendations?

maybe overkill, but it will do what you needs2member

    or, more simple:
    private-category

I’ve used both. Can’t remember if private category allows for passwords or if it’s just user roles.
