• I’ve just started configuring Max Mega Menu for the first time, and have been surprised by its not picking up colors from the theme (Astra in this case) or even Central Color Palette.

Ideally, it would automatically pick up and use the global colors from the theme in var form, but short of that, at least allow me to insert --ast-global-color-1 (for example) in the color picker.

Is there something I’m missing? Thanks.

    Hi David,

How is Astra configuring its colour palette – through a core WordPress system or something custom? I generally avoid adding theme specific functionality, there are thousands of themes and it is difficult to keep up with their changes (and usually impossible to anticipate them).

At the moment you could use the Custom Styling tab to override the necessary styling using vars for the values.

Tom, thanks for your reply; my apologies for my late response!

I’m not sure how Astra works as far as core WP systems go. I can see that it adds --ast-global-color-0 through --ast-global-color-8 to :root via one of its stylesheets.

I’m probably switching to GeneratePress, as it happens, for the particular project I’m working on at the moment. GP seems to add keyword variables such as --contrast to :root.

In both, the theme’s colors show up in the block editor as variable references, so it must be tying into something that’s recognized by WP.

    Hi David,

Thanks. I’ll see if I can work out how core is doing that.
