Is it possible to update a shortcode (in Shortcode Ultimate) as opposed to having to recreate it if a change is desired?

I’m asking since I added a shortcode (as a test using the plugin) and then realized I wanted to make a change to what I had created. I didn’t see a way to get back to the settings I selected for the shortcode in order to be able to make changes and update it. All I could see is that I’d need to recreate the shortcode from the beginning. Is that the way it works? Or is there a way I can open up the shortcode I created (with the current settings I selected) and just update it?

Can someone explain how (if it’s possible) that I can update a shortcode I created using the options in Shortcode Ultimate?

    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,

    sorry for the late reply.

Inserted shortcodes cannot be edited later. But, the Insert shortcode tool remembers the last used settings and loads them when you’re trying to insert the shortcode next time.

    Vladimir,

No worries. I am very happy that you replied. Since it wasn’t an urgent issue, the response time was perfect.

I was considering your premium upgrade, but I was really hoping, after I tested the free version, that this functionality would be possible. I don’t suppose this functionality will be added at any time in the somewhat near future, might it??? I’m guessing the answer will be no.

When you said “But, the Insert shortcode tool remembers the last used settings and loads them when you’re trying to insert the shortcode next time.” Does it remember the shortcode settings for every shortcode used, on every page, etc.? Is this based on my browser’s cookies (hopefully not, but I just wanted to ask how it remembers this)?? If so, that should work. I’ll have to test this.

Unfortunately, the answer is no. I want to add this functionality pretty long time, but… it’s still isn’t there.

It only remembers a single set of last used settings for each shortcode and stores it in the wp_options table, not in cookies. You can access saved settings from the Presets menu (see the screenshot below). There you can also create custom presets.

Great. ?? Thanks. That should work. (PS: The screenshot helped a lot.)
