Is it possible to hide the widget temporarily?

This is already possible with its premium version. You would restrict the widget to a group as explained here: https://docs.itthinx.com/document/widgets-control-pro/usage/roles-groups-and-authors/

Another approach would be to only show it on a private page: https://docs.itthinx.com/document/widgets-control-pro/usage/pages-and-hierarchies/ – this is possible with both this version and the premium version.
