Is it possible to have too many Categories?

  • Right now, I have 214 Categories and I plan on adding more. Where the problem lies, is when I go to Write a Post, not all of the Categories are listed in the “Categories” section. If I go to add another Category from that very same page, they still don’t show up. It seems like there’s a maximum number that can be displayed because I can view them all under Manage>Categories. Help please. Also, while I’m posting here, is there anyway to list all of the Categories on the main page even if there are no Posts in them yet? Thanks.

    We have over 600 categories on evilvlog.com. Not useful or anything, but we use wordpress as sort of an art, some posts have 40 categories. Sometimes we add 20 new categories for a single post.

    Anyhow, this is slowing down our posting considerably, I guess because it has to load all those categories.

    Is there any way to get around this? (other than “don’t use so many categories”)

    One of the goals of Evilvlog.com is to break wordpress, and we have succeeded many times, but we’ve found workarounds for everything but this.
