  • I have done exactly this.

    I use the WP-Members plugin and set the WP-Filebase page to allow members only.

    WP-Members and WP-Filebase seem to work well together.

    Thanks Dovedale1508, I sat down and figured it out. I guess that most who do the coding miss out the basics and some of the obvious in their instructions and this is where most newbies like myself get stuck. I sorted out the page ID number issue sussed too, with yet another plugin, that shows page ID numbers. However this is a great plugin and very easy to use.

    You’re welcome. I figured it out myself too, which is why I sometimes post a reply on here to something that bothered me.

    You will have to be careful with hotlinking to the “hidden” files though, as WP-Members only protects the WP pages – not the files in the directory. Once Google finds them, anyone can link directly to downloadable (eg pdf) files, bypassing the members-only section.

    The way to fix this is via your .htaccess file.
