What i want to do is have posts tagged with a certain to category to not show up on the home page and instead show up on an internal page.

For example say i have a recipes site and currently all posts are appearing on the home page, i then make a seafood page and would like all recipes published in the seafood category to appear on the seafood page rather than the home page. Does that make sense ?

    Thanks

  • Yep, it’s possible.

There are some plugins that you might look at — although I’ve not checked to see if they’re ready for 2.3. Ultimate Category Excluder would be a good one to start with.

You could also check the documentation on The_Loop as I believe there’s an example there for excluding cats as well.

Thanks, i followed the link The_Loop and have managed to exclude the posts on the homepage, just trying to figure out how i show them on the other page now

You don’t need a Page (as in Pages).
The posts in a category always appear when clicking on the category name. WP does it for you, so don’t overcompliacte it!
    Instead of Pages think Category_Templates.

Yeah i was just looking at that actually (i came across a similar post from 6 months ago), this should do exactly what i’m after.

    Thanks for the help
