• Hello there,

I’ve just finished creating a new WP site. It is now in its own directory, here (DRAFT):

    https://www.myangelyouareloved.com/DRAFT/

The old version of the site is here, in the root:

    https://www.myangelyouareloved.com

    MY QUESTION:
I’d like to move the NEW version into the root, and, if possible, would like to SAVE a copy of the old site, perhaps place in another diretory called “OLD”?

Is this possible? If we have to lose the old one, so be it. But if it’s possible to essentially SWAP them around, any instructions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Yes it is possible, create these directories within the themes directory.

Your NEW and OLD versions can become templates, in which you can SWAP at will.

Hmmm. Are you sure about that? Could I trouble you to write out the steps? I’m somewhat new to this aspect of moving and don’t want to lose anything.

The old and the new versions of the site each have their own WP Theme associated with it. Also, the “new” version (that is in the DRAFT directory) has a lot of new and different information and images in it.

    Thanks again.

Make sure you work off-line first, maybe create a backup or copy & paste the current website into a different directory.

I may have misunderstood that your OLD and NEW versions have themes assigned to them, therefore I doubt the method I suggested will work.

    @dave M.

    Thanks –

OK, so, I’m thinking I will move the Root install into its own new directory first – and then – move the new site that’s now in the DRAFT directory, into the ROOT folder? Does that sound feasible?

Seems like there would be some “down time” in this scenario, but I doubt anyone will notice!

Yes. And there will be down time for the transition.
