Is It Possible to Display Posts Side by Side?

Hi there,
I was wondering currently my posts are displaying one underneath each other..
Well i was wondering is it possible to display posts side by side and fix a width. Maybe have them in a table because i’m using thumbnails like a gallery and need them to be side by side maybe a row of 5 and then move onto the next row.
Is this possible i’ve been looking for the code in my template files but can’t seem to find it!
Btw i need this on my category-x.php page only!
