Is it possible to Delete or Refresh Sitemap?

    I’m new to sitemaps. Is it possible to delete and/or refresh a sitemap so I can resubmit to Google Webmaster Tools (WMT)?

    I deleted the old sitemap from WMT, deleted from server via FTP but the sitemap url is still alive and kicking when the sitemap functionality is enabled!

    Any ideas how to get a brand spanking new sitemap with today’s date on it instead of early Feb?

    My site was hacked (now all clean) and is currently penalised by Google so just trying to refresh everything after cleaning the virus prior to submitting a reconsideration request.

    The original sitemap was giving 2 x 403 errors.
