• PLEASE NOTE: I had a thread locked before, but I am posting this to the right site (.org)… Please read my thread in entirety before locking

I already have a blog on wordpress.com and am very experienced with css in general. I am looking to set up a www.remarpro.com site and I have a few basic questions (see screenshot below)

    1. The middle section with the beer bottles, is going to be flash, does www.remarpro.com support flash.

    2. How can I make my home page notthe blog page, and a page with the three info divs

    3. Does wordpress support images for menu buttons? As the font I used for the menu is not a system font.

    4. I am using wordpress so the client can edit content, can I set it up in a way that the three info blocks on the homepage are editable?

    5. Overall Is this type of layout possible with .org?

    Thanks ahead of time!!

  • I saw the post that was locked earlier on and realised it was locked by mistake, but there wasn’t anything I could do about it.

The short answer is that everything you’ve posted is possible.

What’s important to note here is that www.remarpro.com is not a hosted solution like wordpress.com. It provides you with the code used to power wordpress.com so that you can host it yourself. For this reason, you can design the site how you want, there’s no set of templates that you have to choose from.

Great thank you for the reply. Do you have any direction you can point me in on making the homepage a NON blog page… Again I am very comfortable with changing css/div locations etc.

    Thanks again!

go to settings>reading> and set your home page to static. Then you can upload your code and graphics for a front page like that. You can set your other pages as static for a website look, and designate one post page as you like. I’m currently researching to see if there’s any way to have more then one posting page.

    great thank you…

I figured that much out so far.. and am I correct that the index.php file is the blog file that pulls content, and the page.php is what pulls statis page content? and the_content() is what actually pulls content from the CMS in the pages section?

I think I am getting the hang of this! haha

    Yeah, that’s an accurate understanding.
