    Hi!

I was wondering if it’s possible to add a child page to a page that uses a custom domain?

    For Example:

    originaldomain.com/page is using customdomain.com but I’d like customdomain.com to have customdomain.com/page.

    Thank you!!

Hello shey18, thank you for reaching out.

As it stands now, customdomain.com will serve originaldomain.com/customdomain-com, not page, so adding the slug to the domain would not provide the user with much extra information, or can you explain your usecase a bit more?

Also, Google (the search engine), while determining canonicals, favours the clean domain.com over domain.com/my-slug when they serve the same page, in my experience (even when /my-slug is explicitly mentioned as canonical in the page head). So also here: can you explain your usecase so I understand better how I might adapt the plugin?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Hi Joeri,

    Thank you for your response!

To explain my use case a bit more, here’s some info:

    1. originaldomain.com/customdomain-com is being served on customdomain.com.
    2. I have a page like this: originaldomain.com/customdomain-com/child-page
    3. I would like child-page to be accessible from customdomain.com/child-page instead of originaldomain.com/customdomain-com/child-page.

Please let me know if that makes sense.

Ah, yes I understand now. I have to look into that. Will get back to you here within a few days (probably after the weekend).

Hello shey18, just a quick heads up, I worked on this issue today and your wish seems like a great addition to the plugin. It took me some digging but it’s working now on my test setup. Will have to check it some more to make sure I have not overlooked anything. I expect to release a new version by the end of the week with the child pages functionality included.

Wow that’s great news! Thank you so much. I’m excited to see the new feature working ??

Hello shey18, version 1.4.0 is just released, with support for child-pages.

I tested the new functionality thoroughly with different installs and options, but because of the sheer number of parameters, not to speak about other plugins that may interfere with the process of page loading and generation of links, I am interested to know if this works for you as well.

I also updated the documentation. Note: if you have installed your blog in a subfolder of your original domain, the process of getting the ‘landing’ domains working has changed (now you need to copy the original index.php into the second folder and change one line in it, in stead of using a different index.php as outlined in the previous version of the readme).

Let me know if you have any issues.

Fantastic! It’s working! Thank you so much for the very quick update. I’ll continue testing it out over the coming days and keep you posted if I encounter any issues ??
