Is it normal to take days to get any response to questions?

I”m used to other forums, but I’m not sure if things here work as they usually do elsewhere. In general, questions in most forums I use get responses fairly quickly – usually in hours rather than days. In the WordPress world, primarily plugins, I’m finding that most questions about getting a plugin to work as desired don’t get any responses. Not from other users, and not from the developer(s). Is there any mechanism within the WordPress hierarchy to encourage the people responsible for plugins to respond to questions?
