Is it nessary for a subscriber/customer to start through levels page?
-
Hello everybody,
There are levels pages in PMPRO where there is a facility for entering subscription prices.
And there is meta data available for each products entered which also has facility to enter the prices including options for subscription.
Is it necessary for a user/customer seeking subscription through a levels page
Or directly he can buy the products when the levels are set in the meta data? What will happen if there is a mismatch in the prices entered in the levels and products in that level and a person selects a level and the select a product in that level(say both are subscriptions)?Say a level has price 10 usd per month subscription and there is a product in that level whose price is entered as 25USD per month subscription and the user selects this level and selects the product with subs. price 25usd…

To add to the message above :
Woocommerce and Woocommerce-PMPRO addon is installed in the setup and the membership is sold as a woocommerce product.Hi @mitua
Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro.
Is it necessary for a user/customer seeking subscription through a levels page
Or directly he can buy the products when the levels are set in the meta data?Users do not need to purchase through the levels page if you are selling your memberships through WooCommerce.
You may simply set your levels page to your WooCommerce shop page or any page you would like.
Then you may remove the levels page from your WordPress site, the same goes for your Paid Memberships Pro checkout page.
I hope this helps clear things up.
Thanks for your reply. Just a last 2 small questions and then I will close this post as resolved. You may answer in short.
a) If am not wrong, setting the levels page to a shop page simply means ticking the appropriate level in the membership meta data for the woocommerce product or something else?
b) What do we have to do with the prices options in the woocommerce products then? Do we have to leave the options blank so that the product takes the pricing entered in the levels page?
c) I have created a level and then entered 2 products as woocommerce products and ticks the level option(so these products are now connected as membership products). Now the question is what will happen if I enter different prices in the products page too? There is something sale price and regular price in the product editing too(in the meta data clicking General).
Details just for clarifying : Actually I created a level as K12. I entered the subscription pricing for this level. Now there are products from Nursery to 12th which I have entered in the woocommerce products and selected K12 level from the meta data for each of these products. So these are membership products now. But if I enter different woocommerece prices in the meta data(sale and regular price) in addition to the K12 level price already entered in the levels page, what will happen? I want to sell these products Nursery to 12th course as membership products. So my question simply is do i need to enter the prices in the product meta data area after entering the K-12 level pricing in the levels page?

You will navigate to “Memberships” > “Settings” > “Pages” and set the level page to your shop page by selecting the dropdown. You then can remove the generated page Paid Memberships Pro creates since you won’t need that anymore. (You can always add this back at a later stage).
You will then set your pricing inside the WooCommerce product and choose a membership level it will give if the user purchases that product. You will repeat this for every level you would like to sell.
WooCommerce will handle all the billing for the users, and Paid Memberships Pro will handle the content restriction side.

You can assign membership pricing per product or global membership discount. The product pricing per membership level (under the Memberships metadata in the edit product settings) will take priority and overwrite the regular/sale price. The global membership discount, under the level settings page, will apply the discount to the sale/regular price (i.e. 20% off).
I hope this clears things up.
Thanks for your reply again.
a) I have set the levels page to my woocommerce shop page for selling membership as woocommerce product. I have selected the level in the product meta data to give the product a membership status. But one question here is still not clear. I have entered the pricing in the levels settings. Now do I have to enter the pricing sale/regular price again in the General section of the meta data?
b) In your first reply you have mentioned same goes for checkout page. Do you mean to say if I am selling membership as woocommerce product I have to set my checkout page in the membership – settings – pages to my woocommerce checkout page?
Now do I have to enter the pricing sale/regular price again in the General section of the meta data?
No you don’t have to. Only if you want a specific price for members to pay for that specific product otherwise the membership discount will be applied to all products.
b) In your first reply you have mentioned same goes for checkout page. Do you mean to say if I am selling membership as woocommerce product I have to set my checkout page in the membership – settings – pages to my woocommerce checkout page?
Since you are not using the Paid Memberships Pro checkout page, you don’t need this page. I usually set this to the WooCommerce store page just in case there is a time Paid Memberships Pro may want to redirect user’s directly to the checkout page. (When a user clicks renew from their account page for example).
WooCommerce will handle all the billing for Paid Memberships Pro in your case and this is to reduce confusion for customers as sometimes customers may be redirected to a Paid Memberships Pro billing / payment page when they should actually go through the WooCommerce checkout process.
I hope this helps.
I am not talking about the discounts. I simply want to know whether I have to enter the sale/regular price in the general section of the meta data after entering the pricing in the membership/settings/levels or woocommerce will take the pricing from the levels itself on checkout?
Yes as the membership price is only for the relevant members. Non-members would see the regular/sale price.
Thnks andrew for your valuable answers.
I will implement these and if there is any issue i will contact you(PMPRO).You’re most welcome, glad I could help.
Have a great day further! ??
Hi Andrew,
You have answered my basic questions. My query is resolved.
Just a few quick questions in the cosmetic/superficial category which am posting on this post only rather than create a new post. So you can feel fully relaxed to answer them.
(Selling membership as woocommerce products)a) You have mentioned to set the levels page to woocommerce shop page and remove the page created. Do you mean to say remove the shop page from the page settings/ is it necessary to remove it or leave is their itself would not create problem?
b) Do we need to set the member account page so that the members can view their account? Which page has to be connected for PMPRO-Woocommerce integration? Do we have to set the pmpro account page to any new page or any woocommerce page?
c) You have mentioned”I usually set the checkout page to woocommerce store page. …)By store do you mean to say you set the checkout page to shop page or by store you mean some other woocommerce page? and after setting is it required to remove it?
d) For selling the products on external market places like amazon – (Correct me if am wrong)
The customers data can be taken from the market places and a csv can be created using the PMPRO addon import users from CSV and after the users are imported their login details can be emailed to them so that they can use the membership contents on our website.
or is their any other method?
(Also mention that the CSV format is ready in the addon)What are the confirmation page and cancel page for? To which pages they are to be set?
a) You have mentioned to set the levels page to woocommerce shop page and remove the page created. Do you mean to say remove the shop page from the page settings/ is it necessary to remove it or leave is their itself would not create problem?
This won’t cause problems, you can keep it set to the WooCommerce shop page.
b) Do we need to set the member account page so that the members can view their account? Which page has to be connected for PMPRO-Woocommerce integration? Do we have to set the pmpro account page to any new page or any woocommerce page?
You can leave this set as the PMPro Account page.
c) You have mentioned”I usually set the checkout page to woocommerce store page. …)By store do you mean to say you set the checkout page to shop page or by store you mean some other woocommerce page? and after setting is it required to remove it?
I am referring to the WooCommerce shop page.
d) For selling the products on external market places like amazon – (Correct me if am wrong)
The customers data can be taken from the market places and a csv can be created using the PMPRO addon import users from CSV and after the users are imported their login details can be emailed to them so that they can use the membership contents on our website.
or is their any other method?
(Also mention that the CSV format is ready in the addon)This is a WooCommerce related question I believe. I haven’t personally done cross-site purchases with WooCommerce myself. You can manually import users and assign them a membership level using the Import Users CSV Add On.
What are the confirmation page and cancel page for? To which pages they are to be set?
The confirmation page is used when users are checking out through Paid Memberships Pro and may be ignored as you are using WooCommerce to sell your memberships.
User’s may use the Membership Cancel page to cancel their membership.
Thank you again for your very valuable answers. I need to continue to the point d) above Actually its not a woocommerce question at all. Since my topic is totally PMPRO-Woocommerce. Even selling on external marketplaces(cross site), I am talking about PMPRO-woocommerce products only(selling membership). Woocommerce will not be able to answer this question at all. You might not have used cross site selling but from the logical purpose of the PMPRO addon Import users from CSV you can resolve that query or through Jason/Kim can resolve it as my request to them. because I may need this feature in the future though not now.
The question am putting again for simplicity : I want to sell a membership product at external market place say ebay and I need to give the customers a registration code after their checkout on ebay. So if I take the user data from ebay and get it in the csv format of PMPRO addon import users from CSV and after adding the user as a member in my site send login credentials for the user through email(as in my site login is permitted only for members(those have purchased the membership).
