Hi Folks! Brand new here, and just learned about the SEO Framework. Sounds awesome and I really want to try it. I’ve been using the free version of Yoast on one my business site for almost 3 years, and never really spent much time actually using Yoast to optimize any of my pages. ?? I *REALLY* need to do this, but Yoast just isn’t all that intuitive or user-friendly IMHO.

Knowing this, is there really a need for me to still transfer my existing Yoast metadata over to SEO Framework? Or would I be safe simply installing SEO Framework and removing Yoast? What is the recommendation?

    Thank you!

  • Hey, glad you like TSF! First things first, always make a backup before making changes like this. Now to answer your question.

Knowing this, is there really a need for me to still transfer my existing Yoast metadata over to SEO Framework?

Depends if you actually wrote custom meta titles and meta descriptions in Yoast. How much time you actually put into customizing Yoast? If you put a trivial amount of time into the optimization you really don’t have to transfer anything. Just start with the clean slate.

If you did, follow this tutorial to migrate your data: https://tsf.fyi/docs/migrate

If you have any other questions or if you simply not sure, ask. If you do, be as specific as possible and remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid mistakes!

    Cheers,
    Pierre

Thanks @lebaux! I kinda thought that would be the answer, but I also didn’t want to do something stupid and get my site penalized in the search engines. ??

No problem. Might I ask why did you decide to switch to TSF? Like, what was the tipping point, of feature you liked?

Just curious, if you don’t feel like answering it is OK ?? As a new user you see things with a fresh perspective, knowing what people like helps us focus on those things. You can also share what you are missing from TSF.

In any case, have a great day!

Hi, I followed the directions exactly in migrating YOAST data into your TSF plugin. The problem is my seo metadescriptions are not importing. How can you fix this? I am not going to do this manually for hundreds of pages.
