Is it Impossible to Get a 99/99 GPSI Score with Display Ads?

    Hi,

    When I disabled all plugins, I had a 73/88 GPSI score. After trying out several cache plugins and Autoptimize, WP Super Cache and Autoptimize turned out to be the best combo with a 99/99 score result (what a dream!).

    As soon as I activated Ad Inserter, it’s gone down to 50/95.

    1. Any specific advice you can give to increase mobile speed while running display ads? Will WP Rocket sort this issue? From what I see, WP Rocket just simplifies things – all in one place instead of several plugins. So, perhaps it’s not the answer…

    2. I’m using this theme. I have a canvas image below header in every page (each with a different image). And two pages (home and one other page) flash pitch black the image block before loading the image. It only happens with Autoptimize. Any idea how to fix this? Other images are lazy loading fine.

    Ads will inevitably drag your scores down, mostly because they require (a significant amount) of external JavaScript that is sometimes render-blocking and almost always blocks the main thread and as a result leads to longer Time to Interactive/ higher Total Blocking Time/ higher First Input Delay.

    Re the pitch black images; does that go away when lazyload is off?
