Is it correct to have two sitemaps

Hello everyone,

Is it right to have 2 sitemaps in my site?

I just integrate WP in my site and when i use the XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 3.1.2 i have the option to specify the path of the sitemap so i have two situations here:

Case 1 – i choose https://myDomain/blog/sitemap.xml it generates (of course) a sitemap file in blog directory but it happens that i also have my original sitemap in https://myDomain/sitemap.xml so as you see now i create two sitemaps for the same site.

Case 2 – i choose https://myDomain/sitemap.xml this time a sitemap it’s generated in my root directory just as i indicated and override the original one. The problem is that this new sitemap doesn’t include my urls but just the one that are in the blog directory.

So that’s why i’m asking if it’s correct to have tw sitemaps or how could i include my urls in the sitemap generator? Should i do it manually?
