One of the diagnostic checks is:

Checking if WordPress can make requests to itself from [ip address]

I’m trying to understand what this means and why it’s required.

Does the server need to be accessible over the internet? Can I use this plug-in without allowing access to that ip address?

To answer my own question, it means what it says, the server needs to accept connections from its own ip address.

The reason I was confused is that the ip address printed in the diagnostics isn’t the address of my machine, and allowing/blocking connections from that address doesn’t affect the plug-in.

    Hi xtk03dhbxdfn,

Thanks for reporting this issue. I’ve done a little searching and I think I can adjust that ip address so that it actually is for the machine. I’ll get that on the docket for a future release.

    Thanks again,
    Scott
