Is a network really necessary for multisite?

  • Hi, I’m looking to create a multisite to create a multilingual website.

    But is there any reason why I need to network these two sites?

    I’ve seen that i can share themes, plugins and media files.

    But is that all?

    Is there any problem if I don’t network them and install plugins or themes on each individually?

    I’m just wondering if there’s a specific reason why I need to network them.

  • Hi,

    If the only purpose for using a multisite is to create a multilingual website, I think a multisite is not your best option. Multisites always need to be inside of a network.

    If you need a multilingual website, you are better off with a multilingual plugin like WPML.
