• This site has been on a child theme of 2016 since 2017. All plugins and the theme have been kept up-to-date. Someone else was maintaining it the past year and is of the opinion that the theme is not capable of handling current PHP levels. I have clients on child themes of default themes as old as 2012 and I never hesitate to update the php level. Never have any trouble. Now and then I have to swap out plugins that become unsupported. That’s it. My opinion is that WordPress is updating these themes all along. It’s the best future-compatibility there is. These sites will run years longer than others. Am I right? Am I preaching to the choir?

  • Yes, it is also compatible with PHP 8.0 as far as I have currently tested. It is also constantly updated, most recently just the day before yesterday, among other things to provide this compatibility. Of course you have to adjust your child themes yourself if necessary.
