Irritating Image Issue

Hi,

I have posted here before, and still couldn’t resolve my issue. The way I write posts, I don’t use featured images, as I set my posts up in a way where I have an image at the start of all my posts, with a “more” tag inserted so far down, this way on the homepage they get a nice image, a slight intro and then they can choose to read on.

However: I have a related posts plugin, due to the fact I don’t use featured images, all my related post thumbnails are empty.

No matter what I do, if I set any of my plugins (related posts) to use the first post image, it then sets a featured image on that post and therefor duplicates the image on my homepage.

I don’t care whether I have to disable featured images or what, all I want is a way to use the first image post, for my related post thumbnails.

Any help appreciated.
