Hello! This is regarding a fresh install of WP and fresh install of this plugin.

    (1) I got the following error in my diagnostics under “Connecting back to this site via IPv6”: wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: cURL error 7

    • This error occurred before installation of plugin “Anti-Malware from GOTMLS.NET”
    • No CloudFlare, but I do have Imunify360 and the plugin IP Country Blocker, which I have set to block everything except U.S. IPs.

    (2) Does this plugin “play nice” with Anti-Malware from GOTMLS.NET? I had both on an installation of WP about 5 years ago, but since this is a new one I wanted to make sure.

    (3) Would you recommend use of CloudFlare with Wordfence or is it fine on its own?

    Thank you.

Hi @geshra, thanks for your questions.

If IPv4 isn’t showing connection errors (and scans/rule updates etc. are working), some software (such as Cloudflare as one example) assigns an IPv6 address to your site even if your host doesn’t give you an IPv6 address. This is a likely cause for a connection failure to be reported here and can be ignored.

I don’t see Anti-Malware by GOTMLS on our incompatible plugins list. Naturally, running two security products together could cause your site to slow down if there are any overlapping features running simultaneously, but Wordfence and other products usually allow certain features/modules to be turned off entirely so that you’re able to mix-and-match the combination that most suits you.

I can’t recommend or dissuade you from using Cloudflare myself, but many of our customers do successfully run both together. There are extra considerations such as adding your own site’s IP to their whitelist and changing how Wordfence detects visitor IPs in All Options when choosing to do this.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
