We have many thousands of photos to upload. I know we can apply default tags to an album, but we need an easy way to batch tag groups of photos within an album. My coworker has batched a bunch in Lightroom, and the database does import that as IPTC data, but it doesn’t appear in the album admin for each photo, and the search widget will not search these tags. Is there a way to get the search to pick up the IPTC data? It’s just too much to have to go in and tag each photo individually.

Yes, put the iptc labels in the photo description field. Then they will be found by the search widget.

    Example:

Enter as text in the photo description field:

E#0110 to get the exif camera model,
    2#080 iptc photographer,
    2#120 iptc caption.

You can find the IPTC labels in Table X of the Photo Albums -> Settings admin page.

You can bulk input it when you enter the codesequence and optionam extra text in Table IX-B4: New photo description, Check Table IX-B3 so it gets applied for new photos, and then run ‘Apply new photo desc’ on the album admin page ( for each album ) once.
