I get that common error from the WP app that says “Couldn’t sync, Blog returned invalid data.” However, it’s only for Posts. Pages and Comments work fine. I deactivated Ultimate TinyMCE and right away, Posts work fine again. I’m curious: why could I see Pages and Comments, but not Posts while Ultimate TinyMCE is activated? Any suggestions so that I don’t have to deactivate this really good plugin, and still use the iPhone app?

Hmmm.. I have absolutely no idea. I think I see a new area coming up where I’m going to have to do some research and perhaps some code optimization.

Are you able to receive any warnings or error messages?

Hi Josh, I’m sorry for the delay.

I’m still getting an error message (all latest versions, as of this post, of WP, WP app, Ultimate TMC, and iOS).

The error changed, but it still pops up whenever I want to refresh the Posts within the app. It reads: “Couldn’t Sync, The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5)”

I turned on Extra Debugging in the app, I looked at the WP app log from iExplorer and this is what I get:

2013-04-02 22:14:27 +0000 Error syncing options: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.)
2013-04-02 22:14:27 +0000 Error syncing post formats: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.)
2013-04-02 22:14:27 +0000 Error syncing categories: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.)
2013-04-02 22:14:27 +0000 Error syncing posts: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSXMLParserErrorDomain error 5.)

I have no idea why “options”, “post formats”, “categories”, and “posts” wouldn’t sync.

When I refresh the Pages and Comments indexes, they’re fine as in the original post. The problem is still caused by Ultimate TMC because the Posts index works when it’s deactivated — no problems anywhere.

I hope the above helps in trying to figure this out.

I’m really at a loss here. I don’t know the WP app… so I have no idea how it’s coded or interacts with WP.

Ummm… what happens if you de-select ALL of the options in the settings page of Ultimate Tinymce? Basically, leave it activated.. but don’t set ANY of the settings. Make sure they are all un-checked.

Does this have any effect on the issue?

Hi Josh, I just updated Ultimate TinyMCE today and unchecked all the boxes. Just as you wrote — activated without any settings. Same problem. I don’t know why, but this only happens for Posts. I would imagine that Pages and Comments would be affected as well, but they work fine.

Does this only happen in the WP app? Are you able to use a computer to see if the issue is the same there?

It happens only in the WP app. There are no issues using Windows and Firefox. I’ve been googling a bit and I’m left scratching my head even more. I’ve tried all suggestions I could find to no avail — xml-rpc works fine, rsd works fine, headers are good, I’ve changed to the default theme, uninstalled and reinstall the WP app, etc.

Something very weird — I have another WP blog with only one plugin. It’s a fresh WP install using the TwentyTwelve theme without customizations. It works fine. I installed Ultimate TinyMCE, added default options, posted a test, and the app shows Posts OK. So, I uninstalled UTMCE from the offending web site, reinstalled it and it still doesn’t work. I deleted the app and reinstalled it, same problem. Both web sites are on the same server, have the same version of WP and UTMCE.

Is there a cache that Ultimate TMCE leaves behind that remains on the web site despite deleting it?

Well.. yes, I’m sure the cache can sometimes be an issue. Is there not a way for you to manually clear or empty the cache on your device?

I know it sometimes leaves a cache with the content editor. TinyMCE is known for trying to hold onto it’s javascript files for as long as possible.
