iPhone 5s appearance, colors, differ from customization preview

  • The customization colors in the editor, in phone preview mode, make sense, but when published and viewed on iPhone 5s are completely different.
    On 5s the colors are all different, and subnav items are invisible but there (must be same color as menu background.)

    Does 5s’s narrow size trigger a whole different css, and if so, any custom css I can put in to address just that case? Just subnav element is an issue at the moment.
    (I’d change to Twenty Nineteen, but layout and colors highly unworkable at first glance of preview. Strange as the site is very basic, menus not complicated.)
