• My ISP changed my IP address and I have trouble logging into my blog to change the IP because the login points to the old IP’s directory files. Is there a way to login and change my IP address?

  • Use phpmyadmin, and access the wp_users table ?

No, I do not think you understand my problem. Allow me to explain…
My ISP Verizon has dynamic IP addresses and every month or so, they change the IPs. In the URL for the website of my WP blog, i hardcoded my old IP address so it looks like https://123.123.123.123:8888/WordPress
When I view the WordPress directory, I can see my index page with messed up CSS pages (it’s messed up cuz the IP is no longer 123.123.123.123 and is not 789.789.789.789). I want to go to the login screen and change my URL so the CSS is not broken and links are updated with new IP.
However, I cannot login because after I type my user name and password (which I know and seems to work), and click OK, the OK button is redirected to the old IP address admin panel and does not load (404 error). I cannot even browse inside wp-admin folder. Is there a way to see the admin panel so that I can change my URL to the new IP?
I was planning to get a domain name soon, and haven’t updated it yet. MY ISP changed the IPs and I now cannot change my settings.
I also installed phpmyadmin and am able to see the tables and stuff in the database. But where to look to change IP and is anything else required?
    Much appreciated and thanks.

I would look at the wp_users table and see what you can see that is related to where your page was, then delete that, and paste in where it is now.
    Good luck ??

Thanks for the reply. I went to the wp_users table and the link is correct “https://www.ganesh.cjb.net” which now redirects me to the proper IP address for my website/Wordpress.
However, I still cannot log in. I am not sure what to do. Rebuild webpage, bypass login and edit login url of OK button to see admin? Help Please!

I would try going back to that table, deleting the passowrd (it’s md5 hashed) and inserting another one.
Then try to get back in.
Hangon, I’ll find the link to where I went last time

I am not able to log in still. Can any one tell me how to export my new blog (two posts) and save them before I try to reinstall it? I want to be able to restore my posts to the new installed one.

You can follow these directions to export your database:

the link doesn’t seem to work? Is there any mirror or alternative links?

Hi, this is me again. I have registered. Thanks for all the help! The link works now. When I backup, do a clean install, and restore my database, how can I prevent my WP from not working again when the IP changes?
I use ganesh.cjb.net to point towards the proper IP. However, if I see the links in the website, it points towards some ip address like 123.123.123.123/categories, etc. and not ganesh.cjb.net/categories. Is there a way to fix this? If everything points to ganesh.cjb.net and none of the links point to a static ip, then I can prevent this problem.
Also, if I restore my database, will the newly configured IP/url stuff in the new WP be lost?
I will be looking forward to the answers to my three questions…:-)

I have the same problem – my ISP also uses dynamic IP’s and when my IP last time was x.x.x.240, now it’s x.x.x.239. CSS and stuff are all messed up, database is working (you can see the entries, but not with CSS) but when I try to log in and press “Submit”, I can see little line next to cursor referring to “https://x.x.x.240/wp-login.php” – which is my f*king old IP!
I tried going thru wp_users table in db but didn’t find anything what to change. I have domain “foo.bar.com” which is actually a redirecting service – I update the current IP to their database, they address the visitors to right place.
What files should I edit so instead of IP there’d be just my domain name?

or pay a few bucks for a own domain with hosting account.
