I’ve gotten a few emails that WordPress has locked out users for trying to login with an invalid username, and I’ve blocked a few in live traffic. However, when I go to the Blocked IPs tab, there are no IP addresses listed. Today I got the summary email and it says no IPs have been blocked as well. My shared host is running LiteSpeed but I haven’t had any problems with scanning.

  • Hi,

How long do you have the block set? The default is 5 minutes. If you are viewing blocked IP’s after the 5 minutes have passed, the block will have expired and the IP won’t be listed in blocked IP’s any longer. Did you make the blocks in Live Traffic permanent?

    Thanks!

Okay that is the problem with the invalid usernames, I have it set to one hour.

How do I make the blocks in Live Traffic permanent? I’m not seeing an option for that.

    Hi,

Block the IP on the Live Traffic page and then go to the Blocked IP’s page. On the Blocked IP’s page you can set the IP block to permanent.
