IP address for the URL, want to change

  • I’ve taken over managing a self-hosted blog that has the IP address defined as the URL rather than https://www.domainname.com/blog. The domain name address works fro the blog home page, but when you click within the blog you get IP address-URLs. This makes for some very awkward permalinks. If I change it from https://208.112.40.244/blog to https://www.hardingco.com/blog in the wp-admin panel, will that work? Will it break all the existing links?

    From reading other posts here I realize that changing the URL can cause BIG problems so I’m very hesitant to do anything. I’m not that technical…
