• Hi, I noticed invoices (post type) is public and appears in our XML sitemap for example. I’m pretty sure clients do not wish their invoices being index by Google or even accessible to anyone else but the involved parties.

Is it possible to make invoices and quotes private (only accessible to admin the client user account) or only accessible via a direct link with some kind of (expiring) authentication code?

    Hi @ravanh

Please consider purchasing our Secure Invoices extension. It prevents unauthorized users from viewing the Quotes and Invoices (a secure link is required, and it’s not visible for Google or any other Search engine). Also I’d recommend you to use robots.txt file in order to stop indexing of some URLs of your site. For example, you can find the URL Slug options on the Sliced Invoices > Settings > Invoices/Quotes pages. They define how the URL of your Sliced document would look like so the permalink structure depends on that. Hence you can add custom rule(s) to your robots.txt file.

    For example,

Disallow: /no-index/?Will stop the?no-index?directory to be indexed, and so on.

For further assistance please feel free to log a support ticket and we’ll guide you through the process.

    Thanks in advance,

Hi @megan891 thanks for pointing out the Secure Invoices plugin, I was not aware of that… It will be the only solution because adding a disallow to the robots.txt is not enough. That will prevent (good) bots from crawling the URLs but not from indexing them because they appear in the native WordPress sitemap /wp-sitemap.xml … bots will at least be aware of the URLs and as such they will appear in (site specific) search results. Even if the bots have not accessed their content, anyone else can find and access them easily.

    So maybe a feature request:
    1. give the public invoices and quotes a X-Robots-Tag: noindex response header
    2. exclude the invoice and quote post types from the XML sitemap
    3. disable archive pages like /invoice_status/unpaid/ for the custom quote and invoice status taxonomies (‘public’ => false)

    Thanks ??

    Hi @ravanh,

Could I ask you a favour? Please can you log a feature request with all the information stated above. It will be really useful to the dev team. It also helps us track, more efficiently, which other users “vote” for the feature.

Hi @megan891 I already submitted requests (this and the jetapck forms compatibility) there but I don’t see them appear in the list… Do I have to be logged in there? Not sure if the requests are not sent to trash or spam automatically…

Tried again just now, but even with my adblocker disabled, it does not seem to take…

    Hi @ravanh,

This is just to let you know that we have fixed our feature request page. You should now be able to open a request whether you are logged in or not. Let me know if it works.

    Thanks in advance,

I had many more ideas and suggestion but do not remember them all. Will try re-posting at least the two discussed on this forum…
