    Hi, my client uses this plugin on her multilingual website. The invoice is mostly translated, except for a few words:

    – When someone on the Italian website buys a product, on the invoice they see the Dutch product name. On the website, the products are correctly translated.

    – In three places it says ‘Italie’ as address, but it should be ‘Italia’ in Italian. Why doesn’t the address translate?

    – It says ‘subtotaal’, which is Dutch. It should say ‘Totale parziale’ in Italian. When I look for this in the WPML strings, everything seems to be translated. Same for the discount and total amount words.

    Just to add: I manages to fix the problems months ago, but I can’t remember how and I don’t understand why all the problems are back.

    Hello Leonie,
    Full multilingual support (WPML, Polylang) is provided by our Professional extension: WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips Professional.
    As you have discovered, making the plugin fully compatible with WPML is quite tricky, and depending on the context (emailing from the backend, creating a single PDF or creating a bulk PDF from the backing, automatic emails, my account download, etc) additional language switching is required.

    Unfortunately the client is not going to pay for the Professional extension. I can understand, as I made it work before and suddenly the translations are gone.

    However, the invoice not showing the correct product is weird, right? It shows the Dutch product, but the client bought the Italian one.

    I can understand that. We haven’t made any changes to the internationalization of the free plugin, so these changes must have been caused by an update in WPML. I do not know what change you made to the setup to make it work before, but you could review that and check if you need to update something.

    The product translations are handled by WooCommerce Multilingual, but that too needs to know the language it needs to use. And again: this depends highly on the context and mode of PDF creation.

    I’m sorry that you are having this issue and I understand it’s not nice if you managed to make it work before and it stopped working, but I also hope you understand that this was more luck than anything to begin with because we have never supported WPML in the free version. I hope you can restore your previous changes to make it work again for your situation!

    I figured it out. Apparently the invoices look different in the WordPress backend and in the customers inbox. The WordPress backend-invoice is partially translated, with the wrong language product, can’t be fixed. But the invoice the customer receives looks fine.

    That makes sense – this is the context dependency I was referring to above, which sometimes requires additional language switching. Our Professional extension handles this switching in all contexts so that everything is always in the same language (the order language by default, or a specific/fixed language if you define this in the settings).
