    Greetings:

Great plugin and I really like it!
However, the option to inverse the country appears to not be working. This is happening on more than one website.
I typically select “United States” and use the inverse option to block all countries except the US. On at least two sites that I use the plugin on, it is blocking US clients from their sites.

Any idea what may be the issue?

    Thanks

  • Greetings,

have you tried deactivating any cache plugin as told ?

Indeed a caching plugin may be in the way. Or perhaps an IP is not registered to the USA while you would expect etc.

Need more info on this ??

    Yes.

The sites in question are using caching.

Is there any way around this? Is there a file I can exclude from the cache that will enable this to work?

Currently I have been forced to deactivate the plugin(s) as the site performance gives way to ip blocking.

    Thanks

As this already goes wrong unfortunately not.

The best case scenario when using Geo Blocking and caching is that sometimes a visitor that should be blocked gets allowed in (aka gets shown a page that is already cached) and that no visitor that should get blocked gets blocked.

The plugin tells every visitor that the block page they see should not be cached (not by the browser, not by any caching solution).

If you really want both Geo Blocking and caching for the frontend you should look into real caching solutions that also allow geo blocking like varnish. But that’s entirely different software.

    Thanks Pascal:
What about just blocking the back end? I mean, technically that would serve to keep potential hackers from getting in, correct?

    Thanks

Correct. Caching should only be done on the frontend anyway. So you can definetly use iQ Block Country for blocking people away from the backend.
