    Hi all.

I have a catalogue of products which I have now set up on WooCommerce. A lot of the products have variants, and thus, I have set SKU, price and inventory at variant level instead of product level.

So at the moment, the actual Inventory tab, as in the link below, is blank, i.e. I do not have a SKU code in the field as I have different SKU codes for the variants, and thus they are set at variant level, same as stock quantity.

In order to be able to link with fulfilment and warehousing software, am I able to have the inventory tab blank and go with everything set at variant level?

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

SKUs are recommended but not required – you can go without setting the SKU at product level: https://woocommerce.com/posts/why-use-skus-woocommerce/

As for inventory for variable products, stock at variation level (if defined) will be used instead of product level. So as long as you are managing stock for each variation, you don’t have to change/edit the stock at product level.

To add to what @maykato has said, you could also uncheck “Enable stock management at product level” so as to remove stock-related inputs at the product level.

    Hope this helps.
