‘Invalid JSON’ preventing update

On one of my sites, on WP 5.5.1 and a recently PHP 7, I am having repeated difficulty updating a page that has already been published.

I am adding a link to another page, and a link to a video

However if I simply add a separator in Gutenberg, I get the same error message:

“Updating failed. Invalid JSON body passed”

I don’t know what that means… but I do know that it hasn’t updated.

My hosting provider hints that there is a general problem affecting WordPress out there at the moment.I want to know if there is a fix or a workaround
