I set up a recipe to post on twitter the featured image of any new published post from my website with a little description and a couple of hashtags. Unfortunately most of the times it doesn’t work. I look at the log and see that it is “completed with errors”, and the error is “Invalid file URL”. I don’t really understand what it means completed with errors giving the fact that it does post absolutely nothing.
Anyways I would love to understand what is causing this “Invalid file URL” message. I have done some testing and I couldn’t figure out what is causing this error. I would say that 1 every 3 or 4 posts I don’t get the error.
I also have basically the same recipe set up with Instagram but that one works flawlessly.

Hi @bottas , sorry to hear about the issue! I’m sure we can figure out what’s causing it.

First, it would really help to see screenshots of the edit recipe page where it sometimes fails so that we have more context.

What we would also suggest is adding a new “Send an email” action to the recipe for testing purposes. In the action, send yourself an email that outputs all of the tokens that you’re using in the recipe.

When a recipe fails with the URL error, check the email to see what URL is being passed to Twitter. Is it valid? Can you send us an example of one that was rejected?

    Thanks!

I tried adding the email automation to the twitter recipe and I also put in the email content the “post featured image URL”. The twitter post as usual didn’t get uploaded but the mail got me even though it didn’t contain the “post featured image URL”.

    recipe
    log detail
    resend error

Thanks so much for trying to help me.

Hi @bottas, thanks for the screenshots!

Everything looks fine there, so I think we’ll need to do a little bit more investigation.

Can you use this form to send us a link to a blog post that was successfully posted to Twitter as well as a link to a blog post that failed to be posted to Twitter so we can take a look at the posts and see if we can spot anything that might have caused the problem?

    Thanks!

I think there will be no need for that. I have looked more information about the “Invalid file URL” error online and I found that it’s possible to fix it by adding the file type at the end of the file name. For example if I want the featured image of the post to be published on twitter, I just have to upload on my wordpress an image whose name is “example.jpg” in format jpg.
It might sound weird but it totally worked for me. I have already tried with multiple test posts and it works perfectly.
Hope this can also help other people.

Hi @bottas Thanks for providing an update with the solution! We’ll update the field description to make it clear which formats will work.

    Thanks!
