Invalid Displayed Gallery

I was having a prior issue with uploading images. That seems to have been resolved with v 2.0.18.

One thing that has not changed is that I still have “Invalid Displayed Gallery” when trying to display the slideshow as a widget.

FWIW, I’m running a multisite and this plugin is not network activated.

While I don’t mind sending a bug report, I am too cautious to send my creds via plain-text on an unencrypted page. Suggestions?

I also have this problem and have reverted back to an older version. I would be happy to let you take a look if you are still investigating, but will need to update, which I cannot do and leave on my website as I do not want it displaying the error instead of the slideshow. Does anyone have a solution?

I had this same issue. The source of the problem was that I was copying and pasting the shortcodes from the Next Gen shortcodes page. Most of the examples use smart quotes. When I deleted the smart quotes and used dumb quotes (“) in the shortcodes, the error went away and the gallery displayed as expected.

A tip when pasting shortcode examples into a post, switch to the “Text” tab of the editor to help insure you do not fall victim to “smart” quotes in the Visual tab of the editor.

I’ve found the solution!
I was using “attach to post” button in the post editor to insert the gallery (<img/> format).
On most of the posts, it works.
On the other ones, it doesn’t (“Invalid displayed gallery”).

Where I was getting this error, I’ve replaced <img/> format with the shortcode to display thumbnails, so there it works.

But I still see this as a bug.

@photocrati If needed, I can send you additional data to help resolve the problem.

After running into problems with the newest version of nextgen gallery (“invalid displayed gallery”)I downloaded the 1.9.16 version and hey presto, everything works just fine. Looking forward to the new update where this bug has been fixed.

We will likely have use for log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with the Bug Report, too.
