On Google’s forum for Adsense, someone is saying that changing the pub id without changing the ad slot will result in earnings not going to the right account. The plugin instructions don’t suggest this.

They are also suggesting that the instructions given in this plugin are incorrect, that you can’t just take your publisher id and substitute it in, because it isn’t the same text. For instance, my publisher ID in ADsense is given as starting with “pub”, whereas in the code it begins with “ca-pub” or maybe other xx-pub variations for different users, I don’t know.

And another problem. In the plugin instructions it says to use %customfield1% and %customfield2%, but in the code it looks only for %custom1% and %custom2%. Why the discrepancy?

Does this plugin work at all?

    Hi there,

Yes the plugin works fine. There was a discrepency between the customfield1 and customfield2 in the demo advert which has been fixed with the recent update but either way the ad code should be updated with your own ad code anyway.

The pub ID and slot ID work together in the code so yes they should be correct. This is explained in the manual which has full instructions for using the plugin with Google Adsense.

ca-pub and pub- are the same. When you create the code in Google Adsense you just simply put whichever one Google gives you. To use Google Adsense with this plugin you need a publisher ID and slot ID. So far the advert code only has those two things that differ. Even so.. although you can use this with Google Adsense I wouldn’t really recommend it for sites that don’t have trusted users. The slot ID means they could put in an advert that is a different size or colour from your adverts. That could be avoided using CSS but still.. it’s not for amateur site owners.
