interrupted server origin emails
-
A month or so ago I unchecked the box in the PMP email settings to filter all emails from the server. This lead to having all emails from the server fail entirely and unfortunately since I was not getting any emails it was quite some time before I was alerted that there was any kind of problem.
An example of an error when a user attempted to recover a lost password:
The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function
Due to the nature of how my server/email is setup (email and website on different servers) I assumed that I had done something wrong with that. Eventually I exhausted all other efforts and began checking every plugin setting on the site when I noticed this setting.
Only Filter PMPro Emails?: If unchecked, all emails from "WordPress <[email protected]>" will be filtered to use the above settings.
I did not dig any further into the issue. Once email began working again I took a break for the day. I don’t know exactly what caused the issue, but it is fairly clear that it has something to do with how your email filter works.
No worries, I’m not holding any grudge or anything, and I don’t really care so much if you don’t fix it. Please have a look if you will anyway though. My main goal by posting this is to put an online record up so someone else might be able to search and find this if it can help them.
