• I have an issue with IE11 and product variation selections in the dropdown menus. Example, see: https://www.nootzaakapeldoorn.nl/shop/pindas/blanke-pinda-groot-china-1000-gr-2/ (Dutch site for friends of mine)

When using Internet Explorer 11, when you make an initial selection you see all the options but if you ever want to change any of these options after makin any selection, you don’t get to see all the variables in the dropdown, only the current selection.
If you press on the dropdown a second time, the variables are back again…

Is this a common IE11 error? Or does anybody know a fix for this?
It’s a bit confusing for customers this way…
Thanks in advance! If more info is needed, let me know ??

  • You should have 3 x 2 x 2 = 12 variations, but there are only 9 in the markup.
These variations are missing. Please check they have been setup fully.

Hi, thanks for looking into it!
The reason that there aren’t 12 variations is because we deleted those 3, since that particular configuration isn’t for sale. Some background info: it’s for peanuts, the choices are salted/unsalted and roasted/unroasted in 250gr, 500gr and 1000gr.
However, you can only have salted in the roasted type, so we removed the unroasted salted variations…

But could that be the problem here, then?
If so, it’s rather strange that Firefox, Safari and Chrome have no trouble with this, only IE11…
And I think we have the same issue with other products where we haven’t manually removed variations.

Thanks for this suggestion, though, appreciated!

There seems to very little information about this problem, but I have found these threads:
    https://support.progressionstudios.com/discussion/4955/variant-selection-not-working-in-internet-explorer/p1

Albeit relating to IE10, the poster says that “Unfortunately IE has issues with styled drop-downs from time to time. You will have to remove that select styling and it will then be selectable again.” However, the dropdowns are styled by WooCommerce, so this must be a rare bug if they haven’t picked it up.

Short of hiring a real expert to debug the code and the styles, I can’t see many options. Maybe your theme designer could look at this. Is it a custom theme? You could try the parent theme. As it does not seem to be a widepread problem, you could try another theme, both just as as a test and ultimately with a view to permanence.

In my add-hoc tests, with 2 themes and a product with 2 attributes, Chrome and Safari worked well with both themes. With theme 1, IE11 would not show prices, though the dropdowns worked. With theme 2, there were no dropdowns. Not good.
