• Hi,

I am developing a site, locally in the first instance. I have a home page that uses the masonry grid view. It is set to 5 columns wide and displays this way on Chrome. On internet explorer 11 however, it displays only one column wide (desktop view). It’s like it’s using the mobile view. It’s also fine on Edge. Can you advise?

    Best wishes,

    Sharon

Hello Sharon, thank you for choosing Bento! Unfortunately we do not actively support Internet Explorer – compatibility backlog has been cancelled after respective statements by Microsoft. However, grids created by the theme’s Grid template should work fine in IE11; unfortunately I can only test and troubleshoot pages which can be accessed online – so in case the issue persists after your website goes live, please let me know!

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I see the same issue with your masonry grid demo page which is online at: https://satoristudio.net/bento/masonry-page-5-columns/

It all displays in one column on Internet explorer 11 on a desktop (Tested in two builds: 11.316.17763.0 and 11.557.17763.0

    Thanks,

    Sharon

In IE11 and below, one needs to explicitly specify the row and column position of each cell in the grid, which, for all practical purposes, is unworkable as a reasonable mechanism for multi-purpose themes where grids can take many shapes and configurations. Furthermore, IE does not support the grid-auto-flow property and other useful features, making it impossible to implement the kind of tight masonry grids that are found in Bento. The Columns Grid layout is however fully compatible with IE11, and so can be used for maximum cross-browser compatibility, even including the non-supported ones.

OK, I see, so, if IE11 support is required I will need to use the columns grid layout rather than masonry. Many thanks for responding.

    Best wishes,

    Sharon
