Hello, we are experiencing declined international orders due to PSD2. Can you please let me know how we can enable PSD2 on our woocommerce store so that we can continue to accept international orders?

As it stands we see the failed orders and we have to reach out to customers to contact their bank to allow the charge. But it would be ideal if the PSD2 could work so our customers don’t have to experience declines.

Note: This is happening also in our braintree paypal plugin, but more often with the credit card. Can we fix both in one shot or do I need to open a separate ticket for the braintree paypal plugin?

    Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for providing more info about 3D secure for credit cards via PayPal Braintree. It is very helpful for my information.

You spoke of accepting Credit Cards via PayPal Braintree. Please allow me to clarify. We also use the “Braintree (Credit Card)” payment method to accept credit cards. Same plugin but different payment method. We accept credit cards not via paypal, if that makes sense.

For the “Braintree (Credit Card)” payment method, do we follow the same instructions you provided?

I do not see any 3D Secure options in either Braintree payment method settings pages. Will they show up automatically once we contact Braintree?

    Thank you!

    Hi @sagescrub

Yes, you’re correct in your understanding. Whether you’re using PayPal or Credit Card, the process for enabling 3D Secure is the same. You will need to contact Braintree’s support team and request them to activate 3D Secure for your account. Once activated, the settings should appear in your WooCommerce Braintree payment method settings.

More info can be found here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-gateway-paypal-powered-by-braintree/#3d-secure

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

We contacted Braintree and they said they cannot turn 3D secure on in our account. They said 3D secure is only available in Braintree Direct. Is this plugin compatible with Braintree direct?

On the other hand did we get something wrong or ask the wrong question to braintree? It sounds like your suggestion and their response did not match.

    Looking forward to your clarification.

    Hello @sagescrub

Yes, our plugin is indeed compatible with Braintree Direct. However, the ability to enable 3D Secure is dependent on your account type with Braintree.

If Braintree has informed you that 3D Secure is only available with Braintree Direct, you may need to consider switching to Braintree Direct to take advantage of the PSD2 compliance features. I would recommend reaching out to Braintree again for clarification on this matter.

Once you have Braintree Direct, you should be able to see the 3D Secure options in your WooCommerce Braintree payment method settings as explained here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-gateway-paypal-powered-by-braintree/#3d-secure

I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
