• I have some ideas how I want to do this… but I’d like more “expert” opinions.

Our company would like to host a blog that will have internal sections (so only employees can see/access) as well as outward facing categories for our customers. And we also want to segment the outward facing blog so that customers can only access categories/posts that they have permissions to view.

Would it be best/easiest to simply set up a different blog for everything (one internal, and several externals) or can I use the same blogging platform and set permissions for customers to view only certain categories?

  • By default WP doesn’t handle anything like that, I mean permissions. It is a publishing tool not a “hiding” tool ??

However, there are many different plugins that can restrict access – by user groups! not individually – to categories or other parts. Some of them might be outdated (read: incompatible with the lates WP version).

I guess two installations would be enough (1 internal, 1 external) – but you have to come up with some concrete criterion for giving access to categories… in that way somebody might suggest a plugin or a workaround.
