Extreme newbie. Taking a WordPress / Bootstrap course online.
I’ve searched the web for solutions, no luck.

    using MAMP to run WP
    WordPress dashboard->Settings->General
Both WordPress-adres (URL) and Siteadres (URL) fields are: localhost:8888/

I was updating the email address and accidentally added the number 2 in the Siteadres (URL) field after localhost:8888/. Once the change was made I could no longer access WP Dashboard.

When I try to access localhost:8888

I am provided with my site I am developing but no styles, images or any css and no access to wordpress dashboard.

When I try to access localhost:8888/wp-admin I am redirected to:

    https://localhost:8888/2/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost%3A8888%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1 and Internal Server Error

When I try to access localhost:8888/wp-login.php I am redirected to:

Powered by WordPress and login fields
When I log in I am redirected to:
    https://localhost:8888/2/wp-login.php and Internal Server Error.

In the last two instances the number 2 is added to the URL.

I have tried searching for WP_URL and WP_SITEURL in the WP theme .php files and manually change however, I am out of my element.

    As per WP codex:

    Check your wp-config.php file.
    Verify the DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE value.

I do not have this key in my wp-config.php file.

Internal server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.

Please check your web server’s log files. maybe something is wrong eg: php integration is not working

This was the solution. I do not have experience with FTP yet.

Changing the URL directly in the database
If you know how to access phpMyAdmin on your host, then you can edit these values directly to get you up and running again.

Backup your database and save the copy off-site.
    Login to phpMyAdmin.
Click the link to your Databases.
A list of your databases will appear. Choose the one that is your WordPress database.
All the tables in your database will appear on the screen.
From the list, look for wp_options. Note: The table prefix of wp_ may be different if you changed it when installing.
Click on the small icon indicated as Browse.
A screen will open with a list of the fields within the wp_options table.
Under the field option_name, scroll down and look for siteurl.
Click the Edit Field icon which usually is found at the far left at the beginning of the row.
The Edit Field window will appear.
In the input box for option_value, carefully change the URL information to the new address.
Verify this is correct and click Go to save the information.
You should be returned to your wp_options table.
Look for the home field in the table and click Edit Field. Note There are several pages of tables inside wp_options. Look for the > symbol to page through them.
In the input box for option_value, carefully change the URL information to the new address.
Verify this is correct and click Go to save the information.
