Internal Server Error on all pages on public site after install

  • I just installed wp and I’m using the Twenty Eleven 1.2 theme.

    When I click on ‘Sample Page’ or any other default installed link, I get a page with ‘Internal Server Error’.

    All my Dashboard/admin pages work fine, but my site pages don’t.

    ISE may indicate a problem with the configuration on the server. Usually your hosting company tech support can help.
    -It could be a problem with your .htaccess file.

    We are the hosting company.

    I read in another post it could be the htaccess file, but it didn’t give a solution.

    Maybe it’s permissions?

    Does WP have any instructions for this problem?

    PS: I found out the problem – there was already a set of .htaccess code from an old installation of wp to a different directory and that was confusing the new installation.

    I deleted that and now it works.
