• Hey everyone!

I’d really appreciate some help as I’ve given up hope for a solution on my issue alone :/

I’ve been making a wordpress site on a localhost (xampp). I’m ready to move it to a webserver. I’ve been using a free host for testing purposes.

It’s just a simple community site for a group of minecraft players! ??
    https://aeonmc.hostesr.com

My problem is: I am given an internal server error when I click EVERY link with the acception of the home page. Here is the approach I took for the conversion:

    1. Under settings, I changed the URL paths to match my new domain (https://aeonmc.hostesr.com)

    2. Made a new database on the web server
    3. Dragged the wordpress files on to the server via ftp.
    4. Edited the wp-config to make a connection to the database
    -this all worked smoothly.
-connection established, I can access the homepage, and the wordpress dashboard. But nothing else works on the actual site without giving an internal server error!

    Driving me crazy! Please help!

  • Did you backup the database form Xampp and restore it on the live server or you simply created a new WordPress database? If in the local (XAMPP) copy you added pages in WordPress (for the top menu link) then these are stored in the database.

Well I have just spent a glorious 12 hours trying to load my site with major loading problems. I actually find WP a great piece of software ,it’s just the upload and back up that needs some work on, even with all the plug in’s.

I had a similar issue, I changed the permalinks from the setting I had to default, later I changed it back. This solved my problem which was very like yours.

I am no expert, in fact brand new to WP and I’m sure some of the techics will answer you on this but I had issues uploading the SQL files, even after following all the advice. The only way I got to another stage was to go to my SQL panel, ‘select all’ then empty the new SQL datase and then import one from the Xampp.

    This solved the problem.

The only one I now have left is that all my photographs have dissapeared whilst viewing the site (with Xampp off), the Gallery library does not display them with but does the details of each photo, but they are there, if I press edit they appear for editing. The URL routing is correctly allocated on every photo in the Media library.

The bizzaire thing is that if I turn my Xampp local host on, they appear and when you click on to them to expand the view the URL is shown as my local host folder and file name, YET no where in the media library or gallery is this shown, as I said above they show the correct server URL.

I hope this helps, if not it was worth a try.

Yep, all i had to do was change the permalink structure. Wow. Such an easy fix for something to lose so many hours on.

    Thank you so much!
