Internal Server Error 500 – Please help!

  • I installed WP 2 – everything went fine.
    I was able to go to the dashboard and set things etc. then all of a sudden, i couldnt go back to my dashboard (the main menu). I can go everywhere else (themes etc. for ex.) but not the dashboard main page. I get a 500 Internal Server Error every time i login. I can still acces my WP by typing https://www.mywebsitename.com/news/wp-admin/themes.php in the URL bar for example but i cant go there : https://www.mywebsitename.com/news/wp-admin

    I checked and tried a couple things on the support forum but nothing seems to help.
    I even re-installed WP 2 once already and the exact same problem happens.

    Any tips ?

  • What was the last thing you did before the errors appeared?

    Use your ftp client.
    Download the .htaccess file
    Then delete it from the server

    does that help ?

    i cant see any .htaccess file on the FTP actually ??
    how do i get the .htaccess file ? should i see one in my WP folder on the FTP ?

    davidhouse : i didnt do anything before the errors appeared. I just changed the BLog’s name in the Blog options and that’s it. I didnt change any ‘critical’ option.
