Internal Links not registering in Google Webmaster Tools

  • After submitting my site https://www.joanismechanical.com to Google Webmaster Tools, and working for many months, I noticed a problem with my internal links. The Google Webmaster Tools “Internal Links” report shows only (and exactly) 16 internal links pointing to each page. I have a total of 19 pages, 2 of which are not in the menu, and not counting the page being linked from, there are 16 links in my main menu. I am guessing these are the only links being counted by Google Webmaster Toosl.

    The 2 pages NOT in the menu, /about/joey-joanis/ and /about/derik-hering/ are linked to in my content, but Google says there are no links to these pages. Also, when I do a site: search in Google, these 2 pages do not show up even though they are listed in my sitemap /page-sitemap.xml.

    I noticed these problems after looking into reasons an internal page /about/ was outranking my homepage. Something is definitely going on here, and I can’t figure out what it is.

    I don’t know if my theme might be breaking something, or a plugin, or what is happening.

    I am using:
    Yoast
    Customizr
    Child Themify
    Contact form 7
    Insert Headers and Footers
    iframe
    Page Builder by Site Origin

    Thoughts, ideas, solutions?

  • Have you tried submitting those 2 specific pages to Google Webmaster Tools?

    No, as they are relatively unimportant and should have been found when Google crawled the rest of the site.

    I am not worried about those pages showing up in searches.

    I am more worried about why they weren’t found when my site was crawled, and why the rest of my links seem to be invisible to Google.

    It could be due to the lack of content on those particular pages. I did a simple (site:domain.com) search and it shows as 19. Google doesn’t crawl all the pages every time.

    So why does every other page show as only having 16 internal links pointing towards them?

    Those two pages not being indexed were more just a signal that my links aren’t being crawled like they should be.
